What each certification covers
cGMP for dietary supplements (21 CFR Part 111) and human food (21 CFR Part 117, Subpart B)
Current Good Manufacturing Practice is the FDA's manufacturing rulebook for supplements: written procedures, identity testing of every ingredient, batch production records, finished-product specifications and a documented quality unit. Part 117 Subpart B covers the same ground for human food. SGS is an independent, accredited certification body that audits the facility against both.
ISO 22000:2018 food safety management
The international food-safety standard. It combines HACCP principles with a management system: traceability from raw material to finished lot, supplier controls, corrective action and management review, verified at audit.
HACCP food safety system
Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points. The facility maps where biological, chemical or physical hazards could enter production and sets monitored, documented control points for each.
What they do and do not mean. These are process certifications. An auditor confirms that the facility has written procedures, follows them, tests what it says it tests and can trace every lot back to its raw materials. They do not verify that the product has any health effect, and no dietary supplement is "FDA approved".
